Welcome.  My goal is to collaborate with you to accomplish your goals, to heal and to grow.  Treatment includes learning new skills, identifying barriers to change, clarifying your values, establishing sustainable improvements in your life, and developing an understanding of your core self through our relationship.  My primary theoretical orientation is Social Learning Theory with an emphasis on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).  I use treatment techniques from CBT, Mindfulness-based CBT, DBT, ACT, Existential therapy, Humanistic therapy, and Family Systems.

I specialize in treating clients with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image disturbance in young adult and adult men and women. I also frequently work with clients who seek help with mood difficulties including depression and bipolar disorder. Anxiety disorders treated include OCD, generalized anxiety disorder, social fears, performance anxiety, and PTSD. We often address relationship issues with partners, parents, children, and/or family of origin issues.  I work with people and not with disorders. The work will focus on issues in the context of your life circumstance, your experiences, and your values.

Collaboration is essential for effective psychological treatment. Finding a strong working relationship based on a good client-provider fit is the first task followed closely by identifying your concerns and your goals.  You are essential to pursuing change.  I bring knowledge, skill and some wisdom to help you find your path.

As you investigate treatment options, I encourage you to reflect on what has helped you learn and grow up to now. Just as each of might learn to ride a bike or speak a second language, we can also learn about relationships, our emotions, and ourselves.

I welcome phone consultations to help sort out whether there is a good match between you and I, whether I have the training and experience to help you, and whether we have the potential to work as a team. My work focuses on helping adults and young adults in the following areas.
